Clyde Holloway Elected Chairman of the Louisiana Public Service Commission

(Baton Rouge, LA) Fellow commissioners today elected former congressman and current Louisiana Public Service Commissioner of District IV, Clyde Holloway (Republican-Forest Hill) as Chairman of the Louisiana Public Service Commission for the 2015 year.

"I am honored to be selected by my fellow commissioners to serve as the Chairman of the Commission,” Holloway said. “I will work to set an agenda that will promote economic growth in this state as well as stabilize utility costs for consumers. Louisiana is on the threshold of incredible growth economically, especially in the Lake Charles region. I will work to continue that growth by making certain that infrastructure needed for industry growth is in place without an adverse effect on ratepayers. Louisiana currently has the lowest electrical utility residential rates in the nation and I want to work to make certain we maintain that advantage." Clyde Holloway, a former member of Congress, represents District Four on the Louisiana Public Service Commission. District Four consists of 17 parishes and is comprised of approximately 980,000 constituents. The Commission consists of five members and regulates investor owned electrical utilities, electrical cooperatives, telecommunications land lines, various water companies (both for profit and non profit not regulated by a parish or city government), non hazardous waste trucking/transportation, non consensual towing and for profit gas companies. Prior to serving as Commissioner, Clyde Holloway was elected to Congress in 1986 where he served three terms until Louisiana lost the Eighth Congressional District due to population loss and reapportionment. In 2006 he received an appointment by President George W. Bush to serve as USDA State Director of Rural Development where he served until January 20 of 2009. Mr. Holloway is currently serving a six year term on the LPSC which expires in 2016, at which time he will run for reelection. Holloway and his wife Cathie reside in Forest Hill where they own and operate one of the oldest shrub/plant nurseries in the area.
