Many of them were waving "Blacks for Cassidy" signs in a show of support for their chosen candidate (see photo above).
The signs displayed the website address "NoMary.com." Beneath the web address was a message reading "PAID FOR BY BLACK CONSERVATIVES FUND."
State Senator Elbert Guillory released a scathing video prior to the election, in which he indicated that Landrieu had done nothing to serve the interests of African Americans.
"Mary Landrieu first ran for senate in 1996, promising to be a champion for the black community. Eighteen years later, little has changed," said Guillory. Our communities are poorer than they were in 1996." See the entire video here.
Landrieu's hopes for victory were dependent upon black voters turning out for her on election day.
Looks like some of them turned out for her opponent!
