MURPHY USES GOD, GUNS, MILITARY TO MASK BIG GOVERNMENT CRONYISM 10/27/2015-- 10:33 AM CDT The district 12 senate races promises to be one of the most contentious, high- stakes races, second only to the governor's race. Conservative Republican Beth Mizell is running against Democrat Mickey Murphy. As with other Louisiana Democrats, he is downplaying his party labeling and avoiding economic issues. Instead, he is resorting to playing dress up in military garb and posing with guns. The reality is that Micky Murphy is outgoing Senator Ben Nevers' hand- picked successor. Nevers has gone on record saying that the Stelly tax plan should be re-instated, and is a long- time supporter of the Washington Parish reservoir project. Many residents see the reservoir project as an expensive "land grab" aimed at displacing home owners and an exercise in crony capitalism. (C) THE DEAD PELICAN 2016
