BATON ROUGE--The Louisiana Manufacturers Political Action Committee has announced endorsement of First Circuit Court of Appeal Judge John Michael Guidry for election to the Louisiana Supreme Court, District 5.

LAMP, in conjunction with the Louisiana Chemical Association and Louisiana Chemical Industry Alliance, works to ensure the political process compliments and promotes the chemical industry's objectives of providing a safe, healthy environment and a strong, growing economy.

"Judge Guidry's record of fairness and equality with respect to the judicial system over his 15 years as an appellate court judge is a testament to the integrity and experience he will bring to the Louisiana Supreme Court,” said Greg Bowser, LAMP representative.

LAMP conducted extensive interviews with the candidates prior to the primary election and after thorough review the political action committee co-endorsed Judge Guidry early on, siting the merit of his legal experience and reputation, impartiality and his voting record on the First Circuit Court of Appeal. LAMP is endorsing Guidry once again for the Dec. 8 runoff election.

Judge Guidry is a former commissioner of the Greater Baton Rouge Port Commission and the Greater Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport Commission. He is a member of the Baton Rouge, state, national and American Bar Associations, as well as the Louis A. Martinet Legal Society, the American Judges Association, the Louisiana Conference Court of Appeal Judges and the Louisiana Judicial Council of the National Bar Association.

In 2009, Judge Guidry was elected as the Louisiana Conference of Court of Appeal Judges representative to the Louisiana Judicial Council for a three-year term and appointed by the Louisiana Supreme Court on the recommendation of its Chief Justice to serve on the governing body of the Louisiana Judicial College. He was elected secretary of the Louisiana Judicial College Board of Governors. He is a member of the Domestic Violence Curriculum Advisory Committee. He is also a member of the Baton Rouge Bar Association Pro Bono Committee.

"We encourage all Louisiana voters to vote for Judge John Michael Guidry for Louisiana Supreme Court, District 5 on Dec. 8 or in the early voting period,” said Bowser.

District 5 includes the parishes of Ascension, East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, West Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston and Pointe Coupee.
